Tyson reveals more

There has been a regrettable and cynical backlash, (BBC has requested copies /sight ) concerning the release of the details of the Bush / Blair Let's bomb / Let's not bomb Al Jazeera transcripts.See here

The legendary Tyson does exist (see pick - although originally called Lulu but subsequent investigation required name change, sexing your chihuana CAN be difficult - ask any young lady).

Anyway , what was omitted was the gruesome detail that what was used had actually travelled through Tyson and the somewhat scattered (scatalogical) and bemerded remnants required some careful unravelling. This may have introduced what we archivists call some palimpsestic confusion as it appears a laundry bill got mixed up in there.

A determinate reading of the papers will follow with a suitable academic glossary and footnotes. Offers of help in dissembling Tyson's tiny turds from the Truth are welcome.

A new segment reads (?)

"....I tell you Prime Minister these ba(inaudible) cun(scream )... Doha ...(Doh?)..you tell me Prime Minister .... I tell you new king ... Qatar ... new k(inaudible)

Illegible ... not UK policy for new king ( *1) ... Beeb will really hit them...Mr President this will meet our core strategy for ... not alienating

Struggling together and meeting the terrorist on their home ground as Fallujah .. light up the night sky... ShockinAwe Prime Minister ..."

Have patience more will follow.

7/7 "Fifth" bomber Patel gets 4 months . Mazher Mahmoud let off.

Some may remember the discussion here, of the News of the World story (October 24th) of the pathetic Imran Patel (no relation) who according to Rupe’s Rag “The Times” today ;

Imran Patel pleaded guilty to making a false report which convinced Mazher Mahmood, the investigative journalist on the News Of The World, that he had information relevant to the investigation into the bombings on July 7.

In an interesting insight into the working of the NOW newsdesk, it appears from the court record that the intrepid journalistic sleuth was encouraged to listen to Patel’s evident nonsense when ..

"Patel sent a series of 17 emails to Ian Edmondson, the associate news editor of the News of the World, in which he first gave the newspaper a "taster" of the information he claimed to have and then negotiated over payment.

In his final email, when he was told, "You have nothing to worry about, you’re not the story", he replied: "I am the fifth person."

He met Mazher Mahmoud on October 20 for a two-hour interview and that material was later handed to police, who arrested Patel on October 22. He was paid £200 as compensation for him losing a day’s work and the fee agreed, but never paid, for the interview was £5,000."

Unbelievably the PC Plods of the Met’s crack SO13 anti-terrorist squad were “diverted” from the London bombings inquiry for 6 days, "effectively working round the clock" to investigate his claims. Leeds Magistrates were told that this waste of time and effort cost the taxpayer 4,070 hours of police time costing £60,000.

As we said at the time …

Of course the Police … still scratching through tons of trains, bus debris, and squillions of CCTV images … have to take note of any information the public provide. Here’s some for them … Sir Ian Blair tells lies in public about the progress of their investigations. Arrest him for wasting the Public’s time … and money.

PS District Judge David Kitson sent him down for 4 out of a possible 6 months for wasting Police time.

PPS Picture is NOT Imran Patel

Wind Energy - more problems / losses stack up for Vesta.

Danish company Vesta Wind Systems A/S (pdf alert) are the largest European manufacturer of tower based, onshore and offshore, wind powered electricity generating systems.

In a surprise announcement today they have announced that this year they expect to make a loss of 3% of turnover contrary to an expected profit.

It is evident the company has major problems, even though sales are brisk (T/O 2005 + - Euros 3.6 –3.8 Bn).

In September they laid off 625 employees in Denmark and have commenced blade production in Tienjin, China. Nacelle production is being moved to Spain (may possibly move to Tienjin also to meet Chinese local production content criteria) and the Asia Pacific office opened in Singapore.

The Company announcement carries some startling quotes…

“The most important technological challenge for the company is to increase product reliability”

“The group has given priority to project deliveries with relatively low margins to the US market…”

“…from the shortage of key components..”

“ Currently the main focus of the technology R & D is to reduce the number of component failures in Vestas’ products.”

"In accordance with the highly inentsified focus on product reliability, Vestas has decided to postpone ... production of the V120 - 4.5 Mw turbine to 2009..."

Evidently the design, development, manufacture of these skyscraper high behemoths involves engineering / material problems which remain to be solved. Maintaining these structures in remote and hostile , and increasingly marine climates is very demanding – suggesting that projections of output may be somewhat optimistic in terms of utilization and running maintenance costs – which is what many sceptics have maintained for a long time.

Welshman Howell tells Hizballah to conform but not the Israeli's

This curious item has just appeared on the British Embassy Website, Oslo. Arabic English

FCO MINISTER CONDEMNS HIZBALLAH ATTACKS (24/11/05)

Foreign Office Minister Dr Kim Howells said on 24 November:

'The UK condemns Monday's Hizballah attacks across the Blue Line, which were aimed at targets in Israel, and calls upon all parties to cease violations of the Blue Line. One violation does not justify another.

'We call upon the Government of Lebanon to put an end to all attacks emanating from its territory and to deploy the Lebanese Armed Forces up to and along the Blue Line, in accordance with UNSCR 1614.

'The UK underlines the importance of disbanding and disarming Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias as called for by UNSCR 1559, within the framework of the Lebanese political dialogue. We call upon the Government of Lebanon to extend its control over all Lebanese territory.'

Well, Mr Howell, how about UNSCR 242 November 22nd 1967 which called for “Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict;”

Including the Syrian Golan heights. Perhaps we could start with that, and make a few noises about withdrawing Israeli troops who illegally occupy what is recognised by all, as Syrian territory. Interestingly this was drafted by Lord Caradon , brother of the Labour Leader Michael Foot - of course he was "Old" Labour, had values, principals, belief in justice, liberty etc., not behaving as a lickspittle lackey of the Zionist neo-con cabal in Washington.

Of interest is a Guradian article Saturday 26th November which highlights how pro Israeli Howell (Chairman of labour Friends of Israel) is.

Total Energy UK Official Statistics

Should you be interested, you can view the official energy statistics for the UK at
http://www.dti.gov.uk/energy/inform/energy_stats/total_energy/ dated October 27th 2005 - and download Excel spreadsheets with very detailed figures.

Should you wish to discuss them, seek further information or elucidation you may contact the helpful, knowledgeable ShelleyMilford

e- mail Shelley.Milford@dti.gsi.gov.uk or by Telephone 020 7215 2703

She has helpfully summarised the figures on the first page of downloadable Excel spreadsheets ...

"Total production of indigenous primary fuels in the three months to August 2005 stood at 47.5 million tonnes of oil equivalent, 15.0 per cent lower than the corresponding period a year ago.

For the three months June 2005 to August 2005 compared to the same period a year earlier

- production of petroleum fell by 16.2 per cent;
- production of natural gas fell by 17.0 per cent;
- production of coal and other solid fuels fell by 24.9 per cent;
- electricity produced from nuclear sources rose by 11.8 per cent;
- electricity produced from wind and natural flow hydro fell by 4.4 per cent."

For some years now I have been promoting the Forth Coming United Kingdom Energy Deficit FCUKED.

I don't know about you but these figures scare me shitless.

MiG impresses in Dubai

RSK MiG (rumoured to be talking joint developments with Airbus) like Airbus with the giant 380 (behind production schedule but way ahead of Boeing) are wowing the Asian / Mid East military at Dubai with their afternoon shows of their adapted MiG-29SMT featuring the new Zhuk-ME multimode radar, open architecture avionics with a MIL-STD-1553B multiplex bus, a multichannel navigation system and a new fuel system that allows longer range and in-flight refuelling.

This is also combined with the new deflected multi-vectored (DFV) thrust which will feature in the MiG – 35 ( was MiG –29 OVT) which India wants to replace the ageing MiG 21’s. This DFV provides extraordinary manoeuvrability combining low altitude flying without the need for high angles of attack. Of course no contracts are signed and the French Rafale, and the Eurofighter Typhoon are also in the picture but the F16 (also now turned down by Pakistan’s Mushariff) seems to have been sidelined.

MiG will soon be able to deliver 12 single-seat MiG-29K and four two-seat MiG-29KUB aircraft to the Indian navy. Test flights will begin in 2006 with delivery said to be pencilled in for 07-08-09.

These variants include a helmet-mounted target designation system, a solid-state laser rangefinder and the ability to detect targets both in front and behind the aircraft which also incorporate infr-red sensing.

MiG’s new Director General, Alexei Fedorov is very optimistic about MiG’s future. The company has seen sales rise 113% over the 12 months to November. Annual revenues exceed US$1Bn and the company delivered, upgraded and overhauled a total of 52 aircraft for foreign customers in 2005, including upgrading Slovakia’s MiG-29s to NATO standards.

IAF staffers and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his delegation visited the MiG headquarters on Wednesday last week prior to the Dubai show. So far American suppliers Lockheed Martin and Boeing who are competing with their F-16s and F-18 Super Hornets seem to be firmly placed on the back burner.

Turkey - but no Thanks

Well, it’s Thanksgiving and the turkey friers are out again. Heat up 5 gallons of fat to 380 degrees and just watch it boil. (Eugene Register Guard - warning sit down before you read).

Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters from Eugene couldn’t have beaten the crew at Cozy Homes development on Mallory Lane, off Coburg Road in Eugene, who managed to burn down the house they were building whilst cooking off an early Thanksgiving turkey.

Killing the story

Serb television headquarters was bombed during the Kosovo conflict because it was seen as an agent and advocate of state terrorism.

November 19th, 2001 – The Guardian reported “How smart was this bomb” about a bomb that destroyed Al-Jazeera’s offices in Kabul, Afghanistan. The reports stated, “Al-Jazeera certainly believes it was a target. Speaking on the telephone to News World from Qatar, its chief editor, Ibrahim Hilal, said he believed that it's Kabul office had been on the Pentagon's list of targets since the beginning of the conflict”. US military's central command centre in Florida, spokesman Colonel Brian Hoey denied that Al-Jazeera was a target.

"The US military does not and will not target media. We would not, as a policy, target news media organisations - it would not even begin to make sense."
He said that the bombing of Serb TV HQ in Belgrade during the Kosovo conflict was a different issue - the targets in question "appeared to have government facilities associated with them". It wasn't soldiers blown to pieces in the rubble. It was the people who apply makeup, the cameramen, and the journalists who were inside. People like 27-year-old technician Ksenija Bankovic. In all, sixteen media workers were killed in the bombing.

March 24th, 2003 – Al-Jazeera Launches Website in English

April 2nd, 2003 – The Guardian reports, “A hotel in Basra being used as a base by al-Jazeera's team of correspondents in the city was shelled this morning, the Arabic TV news channel has claimed. The Basra Sheraton, whose only guests are al-Jazeera journalists, received four direct hits this morning during a heavy artillery bombardment, according to the Qatar-based broadcaster.”

April 8th, 2003 – Al Jazeera reported, "Al-Jazeera office is located in a residential area and there is no way that the attack was a mistake." said Yasser Abu Hilalah, Al-Jazeera correspondent. They were both standing on the roof getting ready for a live broadcast amid intensifying bombardment of the city when the building was hit by two missiles. Shortly afterwards, US warplanes returned to hit the neighbouring Abu Dhabi TV offices.

April 8th, 2003 – Reuters reports,
"A U.S. tank fired on a Baghdad hotel packed with foreign journalists on Tuesday, killing two cameramen, one from Reuters, the other from Spanish television."

Lebanese-born Samia Nakhoul, Reuters' Gulf bureau chief based in Dubai, and Iraqi photographer Faleh Kheiber suffered facial and head wounds and concussion.

Now we hear today that Blair “talked” Bush out of bombing al jazeera’s Dohar based HQ office according to a story today in the Daily Mirror.

The Mirror quoted an unnamed British government official as saying Bush's threat was "humorous, not serious".

So humorous that the alleged leaker of the 5 page transcript, Civil servant David Keogh, 49 and the recipient Leo O'Connor, 42 assistant to MP Tony Clarke are both bailed to appear in court accused under the Official Secrets Act at Bow Street Magistrates Court,London next week.

Clarke returned the memo to Downing Street. He said O'Connor had behaved "pefectly correctly".

Burly, beefy, boozy Scouse MP, Peter Kilfoyle, Blair’s ex Minister for Defence challenged Downing Street to publish the transcript.

The Guardian and Newsweek late tuesday night state that the Government have introduced controls to prevent discussion or publication of the alleged leak.

Must have been a really homourous suggestion by George about bombing al jazeera HQ offices in Doha, Qatar - just near to the HQ of Centcom.

State Dept Briefing on Bush in Far East today Tuesday 22nd November

QUESTION: Yeah, just that report from the British Daily Mirror and the plot to bomb Al Jazeera, et cetera, et cetera. Two people are going next week to court in Britain. I wonder if the State Department had anything to add, other than this dismissal today by the White House and --

MR. MCCORMACK: Nope.

QUESTION: Nothing really?

MR. MCCORMACK: Nope. Nothing, to add. The White House addressed the issue. It is a -- you know, this was a report concerning an alleged -- you know, alleged topic of conversation or content of conversation between the President and Prime Minister Blair. I think the White House has responded to it. I don't have anything to add.
