The ABC of bomb iconography - True Terror

Last night ABC News in America screened images of the damage left by the London bombs on July 7, and of unexploded devices found in a car parked at Luton railway station.

These pictures obtained by ABC News show the bombs for the first time. The bombs were made of homemade high-explosives. Some were packaged like pancakes. Some had nails for use as shrapnel. An x- ray picture of one of the bombs in the trunk of the car show a deadly concoction.

Take a good look at this picture, you are going to see it very frequently in the future. It is an artful, brilliant graphic icon - the product of a very good design studio.UK

This bomb was found 2 weeks ago and the Police / MI 5 / etc., decided to release the first pictures, not to the BBC, the State Broadcasting Corportaion, not to UK newspapers but an American TV station ... the same people who bought you the stories bollocks about "osmium tetroxide"...see Chemical delusions

Oooops! silly me, these bombs were of course in the boot (trunk to those readers in the ex colony of the US of A) of the 7/7 "suicide" bombers they left there with a 8 hour expiry time on the car park ticket. Now we'll hire this car, stuff it full of bombs drive it to Luton and THEN go and commit suicide?

Mark "Urbam" Myth on Newsnight last night (Wed 27/7) opines that the dupe theory won't work because the bombs exploded in the Underground tunnels which required self detonation - so that's the "duped" theory done with, extinguished, removed from public debate.

Lukery - I cannot find the direct reference to the all day pkng tkt. But like most of this info it is indirect. i.e not from Police, papers like the Mirror say it but don't give much chapter and verse.

My only sources are on the web so you may look there

Otherwise I discovered this curiosity today.

Do a google

"luton car park ticket bombers"

5th item (ish)
Were the London "Bombers" Set up?
THE London bombers may have been duped into killing themselves so their ...
pay and display car park tickets, before boarding _ a train at Luton for London. ...

Click on Cache produces a story referencing mine and Bill Bowles story. Direct access produces nil request.

Probably no significance but it is easy to get parannoyed.

If I get better ref on Pkng tkt will post.

Urban was saying was that if timers were used there was no way to guarantee that each of the three trains would blow up in a tunnel rather than at a station. Therefore they must have been set off knowingly by the bombers. At least two weaknesses to that statement

- So what if all three bombs detonated in tunnels between platforms? Urban said this was done to maximise casualties but that's nonsense. A bomb exploding on a crowded platform would do a lot of damage. The bomber last week who set off a device in an above ground section of the tube at Shepherds Bush certainly didn't agree with Urban. Maybe all three trains just happened to be in tunnels when the bombs went off, it's not unlikely - tube trains usually spend much more time in tunnels than waiting at platforms

- The bombs went off more or less simultaneously - that indicates that at least some element of timing took precedence over choosing the optimal detonation location

Anyway, Urban had that weird smug grin on his face when he was saying this. The one he puts on when he's lying.

"Police have formally identified all four suicide bombers, Scotland Yard reported. Pathologists put names to body parts found in each of the explosions by analyzing DNA samples collected at their homes and from fingerprints left on a prepaid parking stub one of the men left on his dashboard."

Lukery - combines two stories. Here is an interesting tit bit re DNA

06-04-2005 - Lord Stevens joins Board of LGC Group Holdings plc
LGC marks commitment to forensic service expansion with Board appointment of former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens.
The Board of LGC Group Holdings plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Lord Stevens as a Non-Executive Director of LGC. Lord Stevens (formerly Sir John Stevens) retired as Commissioner, Metropolitan Police, in January. During his distinguished career with the police he took a close interest in the development of forensic science.
LGC is one of Europe´s leading independent providers of chemical analysis and diagnostic services, for the public and private sectors. The company has advanced DNA laboratories at Teddington and Runcorn equipped for the fast turnround delivery of results critical to police forces.

Ian Kent, Chairman of LGC, said: "We are delighted that Lord Stevens will be joining us at a time when we are planning to expand our forensic services both in the UK and in Europe. We believe that he will have an important role in enabling the company to identify and develop areas in which LGC´s strong technology base can contribute analytical expertise to the criminal justice system."

LGC supplies forensic services to law enforcement agencies, government departments and coroners. In addition to its traditional forensic activities, such as document examination, toxicology and the analysis of controlled drugs, LGC has been at the forefront of the use of DNA technology, and the investigation of digital crime.

I never realised this was an outsourced service. One wonders what controls there are over the databases ?

cheers postman - yeah, bowles' article was the first one i saw with the 8-hour thing - i asked him for a source too - but he couldnt lay his finger on it...

interesting re Stevens - he of course "knew" that the bombers would be born&bred brits. nice catch.

postman, i wrote a new post on this over here. theres no reason that they needed the fingerprint off that ticket to identify the bombers - i had previously speculated that the ticket had been planted...
